About Phoenix Astronomy

Phoenix Astronomy specializes in the development and construction of RC telescopes and accessories for series-produced telescopes. Our many years of experience in the field of optical measurement technology (development of customized multi-sensor systems based on the principle of laser light-section triangulation) enables us to pay attention to details that would otherwise receive little attention, thus combining high quality and long-term stability with clever design and easy handling.

As with the systems used in metrology, telescopes should always function equally well regardless of position and temperature. While measuring systems are usually operated in an optimized environment, telescopes are exposed to strong changes in environmental conditions. For this reason, we use carbon fiber components wherever possible and design and manufacturing processes adapted to the special requirements.

The suppliers selected for the individual components have also been active in the respective fields for many years, so that consistently high quality is guaranteed.

Telescope prototypes are always tested in our own observatory for at least a year in order to observe their behavior over all seasons.

Products

CFRP
RC Telescopes

Our telescopes are the ideal instruments for observatories and ambitious amateur astronomers.
During the development process, great care was taken to avoid the typical shortcomings of other telescope series and to achieve a high level of reliability and ease of maintenance. In addition, there are features that were previously only available in considerably more expensive telescopes or custom-made products.

You can find a detailed list of the equipment features from our sales partner Teleskop-Service.

CFRP-
Primary Mirror Cells

… for GSO RC Telescopes

The GSO RC telescopes are known for their excellent optics. However, the mechanical design of the primary mirror cell has its limitations, for example if the telescopes are to be used over a wide temperature range and high adjustment stability is required over a long period of time.

Our primary mirror cells specially developed for the 16“ and 14” RC telescopes eliminate these shortcomings.

A description of the different variants can be found at  Teleskop-Service.

Motorized
Front Covers

… for GSO Telescopes
with Truss Tube

Especially with telescopes that are operated remotely, it is important to have a way to protect the optics from dust and dirt. Our motorized front covers are compatible with all GSO telescopes with truss tube tubes from 10“ to 16” and can be controlled via ASCOM. A light shroud is required in addition to the covers.

Available from August 2025.

Focuser
Decoupling

... for GSO 8“ and 10” RC telescopes
with closed tube

With the 8“ and 10” GSO RC telescopes with full tube, the focuser is screwed directly to the primary mirror cell. This often makes collimation difficult and time-consuming. Our decoupling adapter solves the problem: the focuser is no longer attached to the primary mirror cell, but to the adapter, which is screwed to the back of the telescope.

Further information can be found at Teleskop-Service.

Collimation tools for
RC Telescopes

We have developed the “TSCOLLIT” and “TSRCKOLLI” collimation tools for telescope service.
Detailed descriptions and operating instructions can be found under the links below:
